Health, Fitness and Nutrition Consultant Program

The Health, Fitness and Nutrition Consultant program is designed to prepare graduates to plan, market, and deliver safe and effective fitness, wellness and healthy lifestyle programs.

Our goal is to have students develop current, practical knowledge and skills in such areas as the development, implementation and evaluation of fitness and wellness programs, health promotion, lifestyle management, fitness assessments, leadership, safety and injury management.

Health, Fitness and Nutrition Classes

Throughout the program our aim is to have students gain and build on their communication, leadership, interpersonal, and technical skills. Students will learn about:

  • Business of Fitness Consulting
  • Supervising, Managing and Consulting
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Introduction to Biomechanics & Kinesiology
  • Exercise Physiology
  • Nutrition and Wellness
  • Fitness Appraisal and Program Design
  • Personal Training and Program Design
  • Group Fitness

Certifications

Industry certifications have become a benchmark used by employers in the hiring process. The Health, Fitness and Nutrition Consultant program helps students prepare for CanFitPro certifications in:

  • Fitness Instructor Specialist (FIS)
  • Personal Trainer Specialist (PTS)
  • Nutrition & Wellness Specialist (NWS)

Completion of the diploma requirements does not automatically give a student the certifications listed above. In order to earn these certifications students will be required to write and pass the Canadian Association of Fitness Professional exams.
