Many of Canada’s airports have foreign exchange offices if you are unable to exchange for Canadian currency before you arrive, however it’s best if you can make the exchange prior to your arrival in Canada.

Credit cards are widely accepted in most places in most countries, although some countries will only allow cash for financial transactions. The three main cards are American Express, Visa and MasterCard, although American Express is less common in most student settings. A debit/cheque card is also recommended. Check before you leave to be sure that your PIN can be used overseas. If not, then you will need to get a new one.
